Audience Conversation with Special Guest following film
January 4th at 4:00pm at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre
Writer and first-time director Elizabeth Chomko’s “What They Had” is a searingly personal film that manages to make you laugh (a lot, actually) through your tears. The story centers on the irrevocable slide into dementia of Ruth (Blythe Danner) and her family’s attempts – conflicted, confused and often at odds with one another – to figure out the best way to handle it.
The film includes an all-star cast with Academy-Award winer Hilary Swank, Oscar-nominees Michael Shannon and Robert Forster and Emmy Award-winner Blythe Danner.
Tickets are $12, or $9 for Film Festival members. For tickets and more information, call 928-282-1177. Both the theatre and film festival office are located at 2030 W. Hwy. 89A, in West Sedona.
The film will be followed by an audience conversation about Alzheimer’s and resources available in the Verde Valley lead by special guest Bonnie Shimko. Bonnie is a Certified Senior Advisor and well-known for her senior advocacy throughout the Verde Valley and Northern Arizona. She has a heart for educating seniors and professionals about available options as they navigate the journey of aging with all the decisions, planning and challenges along the way. Bonnie founded Arizona Care Management Solutions in 2014 where she is now able to focus full-time on elder care management. She has also been a contract Elder Care Advisor for the last seven years for Jackson White Law Firm assisting people with their questions concerning VA benefits and ALTCS. Bonnie serves on the Regional Leadership Council for the Alzheimer’s Association, the Northern AZ Gerontology Association and Rusty’s Morning Star Ranch for autistic men.
